About CFMC’s Board of Directors

Board members are actively involved in making sure CFMC is the amazing place it is –and they work to ensure that it will continue to thrive, grow, and improve long into the future. There are many ways they do this - including attending Board meetings, supporting fundraising efforts, and representing us in the wider community. And they have a passion for making a difference in the lives of our members and others in our community living with Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, and other movement challenges.

Board Service

All Board members are actively involved in governing CFMC and are therefore expected to:

  • Attend at least 6 (out of 9) board meetings per year. Board meetings are held on Thursdays at 6:00 PM with virtual and in-person attendance options.

  • Participate on and eventually lead at least one board committee.

  • Support CFMC fundraising efforts by making a personal financial contribution and raising at least $1,000 annually (inclusive of the personal contribution).

  • Manage at least three donor or community partner relationships.

The term for Board membership is three years and may be extended to six years. After six years, a sabbatical of one year or longer is required before the member may return to the Board.

Ideal Candidates

We are seeking new Board members who will help widen our breadth of skills, increase our community representation, and expand our capacity for special projects. For this reason, we encourage applicants with accounting, human resources, legal, media, IT, operations, volunteer, and fundraising expertise, as well as those connected to regional organizations serving people with movement challenges.

We also expect that Board members will have a personal connection to Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, or another movement challenge. This does not require that Board members have a movement challenge themselves. Rather the connection might be through a family member, close friend, or professional experiences.
