Inside a CFMC Class: What to Expect from Your First Online Workout

Let’s take a peek behind the (virtual) curtain so you feel confident and ready to move.

So, you’re thinking about trying a CFMC Parkinson’s class but not sure what to expect? Don’t worry, no judgment, no pressure, and definitely no spandex required. Whether you’re joining from your living room or your favorite comfy chair, we’ve got you.

Let’s take a peek behind the (virtual) curtain so you feel confident and ready to move.

First Things First: What is CFMC?

CFMC stands for Center for Movement Challenges, a virtual wellness and exercise platform designed just for people living with Parkinson’s. Our classes are fun, functional, supportive, and packed with movements that matter.

We’re not just here to help you stretch. We’re here to help you:

  • Move better
  • Feel stronger
  • Reduce symptoms
  • Boost your mood
  • Connect with others who get it

What Happens in a Typical Class?

Every session is structured to warm you up, challenge your body, and cool you down, all while keeping things safe and accessible.

Here’s the general flow:

1. Welcome & Setup (5 minutes)

  • You’ll be greeted by your friendly coach
  • Any questions or health updates? This is your time to share

2. Gentle Warm-Up (5–10 minutes)

  • Easy stretches and breathing exercises to get the blood flowing
  • Think: shoulder rolls, neck circles, and spinal twists

3. Core Workout (30 minutes)

  • A mix of exercises focused on strength, balance, flexibility, and coordination
  • You might see boxing drills, PWR! Moves, seated stretches, and posture work
  • Everything is modifiable, we’ll show options for all mobility levels

4. Cool-Down & Breathwork (5–10 minutes)

  • Light movement and deep breathing to wrap things up on a calm, positive note

What Equipment Do You Need?

You don’t need a gym. Most classes use:

  • A sturdy chair (no wheels)
  • A small space to move in
  • Water bottle
  • Light hand weights or soup cans
  • A positive attitude (required!)

Bonus: No one cares what you’re wearing. Pajamas? Perfectly acceptable.

What Makes CFMC Different?

  • Every coach is trained to work with Parkinson’s, this isn’t a generic fitness class
  • We explain why each movement matters
  • There’s zero judgment, and 100% encouragement
  • You’ll actually enjoy working out (no, really)

Will It Be Hard?

It will be the right kind of challenge. We meet you where you are, whether you're newly diagnosed or have been living with Parkinson’s for years.

Real Talk: What Members Say

“I was nervous to join at first, but now it’s my favorite part of the week.”
